May 25, 2020
Monday, May 25, 2020 • 7:30 p.m. We are pleased to offer this program to help members process the enormous amount of often-conflicting information on the current crisis. The panelists will be our own SHN members — Darius Sivin, Robyn Robbins, and George Leventhal — who each have a public health background and are closely involved in these issues in their professional lives. They will be discussing such issues as:
— Dealing with uncertainty and ambiguity, especially as these impact health and safety
— Current incidence, prevalence, and fatality statistics for Covid-19 in the DMV as well as availability of hospital beds, ventilators and other scarce resources.
— Making personal decisions that take into consideration our risk appetites
— Airborne transmission and why that makes in-person gatherings and especially singing dangerous.
— Understanding how public policy shapes our community’s plans as we emerge from a strict “stay at home” order.
Rabbi Gilah and Hazzan Ramón will offer Jewish perspectives as well.
